Workbence is a small Canadian group of companies, run by the people who built them. This is who we are, how the group has developed, and where it is headed.
Started with AI.
Grew into more.
Workbence was founded in 2022 by Mert Kilan to build AI for industries that off-the-shelf software does not serve well. The first project was PetroMind™ AI, a monitoring platform for oil and gas drilling operations.
Since then Workbence has grown into four companies. We started Workbence Studio to build our own apps, opened GreenFur Pet Store, and launched Workbence Agency so that the engineering and security skills we had built along the way could be put to work for clients.
It is still one small team across all of it. The agency is our core business, and our own products are where we keep learning.
Workbence Founded
Workbence was founded to build and own software companies. The first focus was AI for the oil and gas industry.
Workbence AI Takes Shape
Built PetroMind™ AI, a monitoring and maintenance tracking platform for oil & gas drilling operations.
Beyond AI
Started Workbence Studio to build original apps and products, expanding the group beyond AI.
Building Out
Continued work on PetroMind™ AI while CostSnap, the first Studio app, was in development. Began planning GreenFur Pet Store.
Agency, CostSnap, Pilot, and GreenFur
Launched Workbence Agency, bringing senior engineers and certified penetration testers to client work. Shipped CostSnap on iOS and Android. PetroMind™ AI entered pilot. Opened GreenFur Pet Store and began building bySeller, a Canadian classifieds marketplace. Four companies now run under the Workbence umbrella.

How we manage what we own
Ownership Mindset
We own every company in the group outright, so there is no one else to hand a problem to. If a product breaks or a client is unhappy, that lands on us.
Long-Term Commitment
We are founder-owned and in no hurry. PetroMind™ AI has been in development since 2023, and we expect to be running these companies for years.
Client Work First
Workbence Agency is our core business. Client projects get our full attention, and our own products keep our engineering and security skills sharp.
Hands-On Management
Every company is run directly by the founder and the three-person Workbence team, the same people who built it. Nobody manages from a distance.

Mert Kilan is the founder and CEO of Workbence, a Canadian group of companies that builds and runs its own software products and offers engineering and security services to clients.
Background
Co-founder of Concept IT, an IT and software development company, and a software engineer who has spent his career turning the workflows and processes of non-technical teams into automated software. He still works hands-on across every Workbence company.
Workbence Group of Companies
Mert founded Workbence in 2022 to build and run companies under one roof. The group currently includes:
- Workbence AI: Industry-specific AI platforms, starting with PetroMind™ AI for oil and gas drilling operations, now in pilot.
- Workbence Agency: A Calgary software studio where senior engineers and certified penetration testers build and secure web, mobile, and AI products for clients across Canada and the US.
- Workbence Studio: An in-house studio developing original apps and products. Its first app, CostSnap, is live on iOS and Android; bySeller, a Canadian classifieds marketplace, is launching soon.
- GreenFur: An online store for sustainable pet products, from natural food to biodegradable toys.
Where It Is Headed
The agency is the core business and gets the team's full attention. Around it, Workbence keeps building its own products, one at a time and only when there is room to do it well.
